I became extremely excited when the concept of "The Donkey House" was introduced to me several months ago. It was outside of my Poker Room over cigarettes and beer, a post Tournament discussion if you will at 2:30 in the morning. It was like a very cool scene straight out of Oceans Eleven or something. It was great!... First i was actually in disbelief perhaps because it was somewhat a far-fetched idea (at that moment anyway...). What? A Poker place open 5 days a week? Are ya kidding me?I knew from that moment on KPT would relinquish the home-game baton, if not perish completely. Yup even at the very early stages of the Donk' House conception, i realized and understood the ramifications. These thoughts or plans, however, did not have me worried. In fact i was comforted. It meant i didn't have to Host tournaments weekly, it meant a bigger and better venue, and more importantly it meant more Home Games. I was even already nostalgic at that very moment too...
It has been quite a different experience playing elsewhere on a regular basis. I have been asked in more than two occasions on how i feel about it and it seems to stun me, yet still. Like it's a difficult question or something (lol). I guess there is an adjusting period for Tournament-Hosts/Player when they go back to just being regular Poker Players. Although there are quite a bit more Pros than Cons, I promise you that! For instance, there is no more cleaning up the Poker Room. Usually the place is systematically mopped and the restroom disinfected at least once a week. I haven't done it once since the inception of TDH. Even my mom wondered about the broken routine. "Aren't you going to tidy up the place?". I just shrugged it off.
One worry i did have about relinquishing KPT is its website. I was not ready to part with it just yet. I thought i might find a use for it, still. After all, with my vision and Adrian's tremendous help, a great deal of time and effort was put into the design and maintenance. It would be a shame to close her down so abruptly...
With salvaging the site in mind, i thought "Hey maybe i can turn it into a Blog site about Poker?". Poker has become one of the passions in my life, so why not? No i will not be offering any kind of Poker advise nor will i talk about any kind of philosophical matters, it is simply going to be an anecdote of my poker experiences (just like these koolgreen.com blogs).
